runningshort adventure

You have been commissioned to investigate the disappearance of rogue constructs in the Obsidian Peaks, a land touched by the promise of techno-arcana under the rule of a wealthy dwarven merchant-king.

The Dwarven Kingdom hidden within the Obsidian Peaks has recently entered a period of unprecedented prosperity and wealth with the naming of the most recent King. Techno-Arcana is a rampantly growing field of technology and innovation, boasting constructs with nearly infinite energy and capability. This period of prosperity and peace is in great peril though as reports have made it to the capital city of constructs going rogue, attacking their owners and fleeing into the depths of the mountain.

The Molten Throne has been the seat of every Dwarven king since the Shatterbane clan laid claim to the Obsidian Peaks. Five years ago the last Shatterbane King passed of old age, and for the first time in dwarven history a member of the Shatterbane clan was not named king. The throne passed instead to the young Svei Silvertongue, the most successful merchant of the entire clan.

Svei quickly transformed the kingdom into an economic powerhouse on the continent, using his new and impressive Techno-Arcana to build constructs with no equal competitor. At the same time, the Shatterbane clan were seen less and less frequently within the capital, becoming reclusive carriers of forgotten traditions. It is far from a secret the disdain they hold for the new king, and it is suspected that they may be to blame for the recent spike in construct attacks.

Are those bound to tradition and old ways at fault, or is the greed of those already in power blinding them to the truth?
